General Library
1. The
library is open from 8.00 a.m.
to 5.00 p.m. on all working
days.
2. All
students should bring their identity card for admission to the reading
room or
for borrowing books.
3. Students are expected to maintain an atmosphere of study and complete silence in the Library and Reading room.
4. Tickets
are non transferable. Sub-lending of
books is forbidden.
5. Borrower’s Tickets will be issued to each student on producing the identity card.

6. On
getting books from the library, the borrower shall check whether the
number in
the book pocket card is the same as the accession number marked in the
book. Students are also advised to
examine condition of the book and bring to the notice of the librarian
any
damage to the book. Otherwise, the
borrower will be held responsible for the damage.
7. The
UG/PG students should return the books on the due date.
However, if they want the book after the due
date, they should return the book on the due date and get extension of
the book
for a period of 15 days. Please note
extension can be done only twice.
8. Each student is responsible for the books borrowed on his/her ticket. For any damage or, loss of book, twice the
replacement cost
will be
collected. If one book
in a set of books is damaged or lost,
the cost of replacing
the whole set will be recovered.
9. Postgraduate Department and Undergraduate Department Libraries are managed by the concerned departments.
10. All
the students must return the library tickets before the commencement of
their
final semester examination or on demand by the librarian whichever is
earlier.

Department Library
Every
department, particularly the research department, has a well-stacked
library
with current additions and all important research journals. The
department
library will issue books and journals to the students of the respective
departments. Students of other departments can also avail themselves of
the
facilities available in a particular department library with the prior
permission of the HoD and as per the conditions of the department
libraries.
3. Book Banks
There are book banks in each department managed by the departments concerned. Book bank consists of textbooks necessary for the various Degree classes.
Students can borrow books from the book bank.. All books borrowed should be returned before receiving the
hall ticket for
the University Examination.
Outgoing
students may please donate their books to the book bank and the name of
such
donors will be duly acknowledged.
4. Library Assistance Programme
(LAP)
Students
may profitably utilise their leisure hours by joining the Library
Assistance
Programme. Each student is expected to put in a
certain number of hours of work per week. Students
may earn extra
credits through the Library Assistance Programme. The students may
contact the
librarian or the convener, library
committee for further details. Students who are identified for the
benefits of
Free Mid-day Meals scheme are expected to serve as part of the Library
Assistance Programme.
